Secondary Plan Review Open House

Wednesday, November 27, 2024, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Mold Masters SportsPlex, Alcott Room

The Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor Secondary Plan is currently under review and the Town is looking for community input. Give us your feedback on cultural and natural heritage, transportation, urban design, open space and parks, sustainability and more. As we enter the final phase of this project, your input will help us shape the future of the Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor.

The upcoming Open House will provide a summary on project work completed since the October 2023 Public Open House and will focus on key policy directions for the Secondary Plan. Attendees will be asked to give feedback on the long-term vision for the area, and potential changes to land use policies and permissions. Comments, questions, and concerns from those in attendance are also welcome as part of the post-presentation discussion.

Register for the event, learn about the project, connect with the team, and join in on the conversation.

A Secondary Plan Review is required for the Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor. The original Plan was adopted in 2010 through Official Plan Amendment 7 (OPA 7). Key components of this Plan included identifying and planning for strategic locations for redevelopment and intensification, and the maintenance and enhancement of existing neighbourhoods. In keeping with the existing objectives of this Plan, key priorities for the review will include:

  • Balancing redevelopment and intensification objectives, with the preservation of existing low-density neighbourhoods.
  • Identifying the potential for transit-oriented development in areas closest to the Georgetown GO Station.
  • Ensuring that the objectives of the Mill Street Corridor Precinct Neighbourhood Study are appropriately considered as part of the Secondary Plan update.

This project will be carried out over four phases and is expected to take two years, and include many opportunities for public engagement. A revised Secondary Plan, informed by public input, and various technical studies, will build upon the key objectives of the original Plan.
