A Secondary Plan Review is underway for the Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor. Originally adopted through the Official Plan Amendment 7 (OPA 7) in 2010, key components of the plan included identifying and planning for strategic redevelopment locations, as well as intensification, maintenance, and enhancement of existing neighbourhoods. In keeping with the existing objectives of this Plan, key priorities for the review will include:
Balancing redevelopment and intensification objectives, with the preservation of existing low-density neighbourhoods.
Identifying the potential for transit-oriented development in areas closest to the Georgetown GO Station.
Ensuring that the objectives of the Mill Street Corridor Precinct Neighbourhood Study are appropriately considered as part of the Secondary Plan update.
This project will be carried out over four phases and is expected to take two years, and include many opportunities for public engagement. A revised Secondary Plan, informed by public input, and various technical studies, will build upon the key objectives of the original Plan.
PROJECT UPDATE
On November 17, a staff report providing an update on the Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor Secondary Plan Review will be discussed in General Committee. This report will cover, among other things, the Secondary Plan Advisory Committee formed in early 2025, and a draft concept for a revised Major Transit Station Area boundary. To access the report, please see the Council agenda
