Steering Committee Call for Applicants

The Town of Halton Hills is seeking five volunteers interested in serving on a Steering Committee for the Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor Secondary Plan Review. To better integrate community voices into this ongoing project, the Town is looking for residents, landowners and business owners to help shape policies being drafted for the revised secondary plan.
Deadline to apply is Friday, January 10, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.

Read the full Call for Applicants Notice for duties and eligibility criteria and complete the Steering Committee Application to apply.

A Secondary Plan Review is required for the Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor. The original Plan was adopted in 2010 through Official Plan Amendment 7 (OPA 7). Key components of this Plan included identifying and planning for strategic locations for redevelopment and intensification, and the maintenance and enhancement of existing neighbourhoods. In keeping with the existing objectives of this Plan, key priorities for the review will include:

  • Balancing redevelopment and intensification objectives, with the preservation of existing low-density neighbourhoods.
  • Identifying the potential for transit-oriented development in areas closest to the Georgetown GO Station.
  • Ensuring that the objectives of the Mill Street Corridor Precinct Neighbourhood Study are appropriately considered as part of the Secondary Plan update.

This project will be carried out over four phases and is expected to take two years, and include many opportunities for public engagement. A revised Secondary Plan, informed by public input, and various technical studies, will build upon the key objectives of the original Plan.
