In the next 15-25 years, Halton Hills is expected to grow significantly. With a projected population of 132,000 people and 65,000 jobs by 2051, we need a plan that reflects today's municipality and preserves our community's character while creating a new vision for the future.
The new Official Plan will also implement provincial policy directions, align with related background studies and recognize Council’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan priorities.

Phase 1— Set the Stage ( Winter- Summer 2025)
Official Plan Review has finished this stagePhase 1 is foundational, establishing the goals, scope, and path forward for the OPR.

Phase 2 — Refresh the Vision & Confirm Priorities (Spring - Fall 2025)
Official Plan Review is currently at this stagePhase 2 aims to inform and educate the public about the project. Several studies will be undertaken to identify key findings and policy recommendations to ensure that the new OP responds effectively to current and future needs and trends.

Phase 3 — Assess Directions (Winter 2025- Spring 2026)
this is an upcoming stage for Official Plan ReviewPhase 3 aims to conduct a fulsome review of all background research and feedback received to date, laying the groundwork for the development of draft policy directions. During this phase, technical report findings and recommendations will be carefully analyzed and integrated into the Policy Directions Report and accompanying Briefs.

Phase 4 — Refine the Plan (TBD)
this is an upcoming stage for Official Plan ReviewPhase 4 will consider all the work completed to date and translate policy recommendations outlined in the Policy Directions Report into concrete draft policies for the OP.

Phase 5 — Finalizing the Plan (TBD)
this is an upcoming stage for Official Plan ReviewPhase 5 aims to finalize the new Official Plan. This phase will focus on clearly communicating major updates and milestones, ensuring that stakeholders have a comprehensive understanding of the key inputs and iterations that have shaped the final document. The final draft of the OP for presentation at a Statutory Public Meeting.

- At the beginning it was stated that our official plan needs to be aligned with the Provincial Plan. With that said, how much flexibility is there, what is the Town's control, and not?
- Can the Town push back if the province is acting against its past legislation?
- The two Bill 5s seem to be against everything you are trying to do.
- How is zoning policy being changed to allow for quicker approval of housing and commercial projects? Current system is severely broken.
- What is the relationship of the official plan and the secondary plans currently underway (specifically SE Georgetown)?
