Community Feedback Summary

Back in January/February 2026, we conducted a community survey to help guide the playground replacement. We received numerous responses, and several themes were consistent across all age groups:

  • Obstacle‑course play, swings, and post‑and‑deck structures were the top‑ranked features.

  • Many respondents selected Obstacle Course for Youth as their number‑one priority.

  • Swings were strongly requested, especially swings for all ages, not only infant swings.

Based on this feedback, we developed two unique playground concepts: one featuring an obstacle course, and one featuring a basket swing. Following this survey, we will determine which concept has the strongest community support, and that design will move forward.

Accessibility Feedback
Residents highlighted several important accessibility needs, including:
A review and upgrade of the playground surfacing
A ramped connection from the trail into the playground
A transfer station and inclusive swing options

The proposed designs address these needs in the following ways:
- All playground elements will be accessibly reached, with refreshed surfacing and new engineered wood fibre—an approved accessible material.
- The basket swing provides inclusive swinging for users of all ages and abilities.
- The play structure includes both a transfer station and steps for multiple access points.
- Ground‑level play features ensure meaningful play opportunities for children who remain at ground level.
- The obstacle‑course components include steps to allow users to transfer onto the course and access all features.

We will also upgrade the connection from the end of the concrete path to the playground, creating a smooth, easy‑to‑navigate surface. Improvements to the existing trail will be completed as part of this work.

Please take a few minutes to review the two design options and share your feedback on the designs.

The Survey Will be open until June 7th, 2026.

Naturalization Feedback

  • Some residents want more naturalization, native species, and buffers.

  • Others feel the park is not maintained well enough to support additional naturalized areas.

The Town will ensure a deliciated balance is met between maintaining and installing more naturalization in the Park.

Trail connectivity and Site Conditions were a common theme

  • Completing the trail loop - The Town Will complete the trail loop when the neighbouring development is completed

  • Addressing flooding and drainage issues - Town will maintain and upgrade the path system and culvert/washout areas

  • Improving lighting for safety - Town will review the current lighting and update if appropriate

  • Managing noise and maintenance concerns - Noted, some elements can be addressed with additional plantings.
