Consultation has concluded
The Rural Policy and Zoning Review is being undertaken to identify the changes that would need to be made to the Town’s Official Plan, with regards to the Natural Heritage System, Agricultural System and mineral aggregate resources in order to bring it into conformity with the Regional Official Plan (ROPA 38).
As part of these amendments, the Town will consider how to implement the new Regional Natural Heritage System, which affects a considerable amount of land in the Town and, when applicable, may have an impact on new development proposed on properties affected by these changes. Depending on the type and location of the proposed development, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) may be required as part of the development application process.
This project has been paused while Town staff awaits the results of the Halton Region Official Plan Review (ROPR) process currently underway. New and/or revised regional policies for the Rural Area could impact outcomes for the Rural Policy and Zoning Review. As a result Planning staff have opted to hold off on Phase 3 Public Consultation until the ROPR process is complete. It is currently anticipated this process will be finalized in the summer of 2020. Further updates will be posted here as Town staff receive them.
