Over the last few years, the Town conducted an operational safety review to assess the need for traffic calming measures within the Limehouse Hamlet. The review was initiated due to multiple concerns from residents regarding speeding, road safety and aggressive driving. A proposed traffic calming plan has been created to further support safety for all road users.
Consultation with the community is an important aspect of the Town’s Traffic Calming Implementation Protocol. Residents living within the neighbourhood and motorists driving on the affected roads are encouraged to participate in an in-person and/or online Public Information Center (PIC) to review the proposed traffic calming plan and provide feedback.
The in-person PIC will be on February 22 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Limehouse Memorial Hall. A short presentation will commence at 6:30 p.m.
The online PIC presentation can be viewed on this page where residents can evaluate the proposed Traffic Calming Plan and provide input using the interactive display materials.

Share I attended the meeting and heard the presentation and have these comments and questions: * The boundaries you are using for Limehouse do not reflect the actual residents who live in Limehouse. As was pointed out in the meeting, these dotted line boundaries are the old NEC boundaries. This means that many residents affected by speeding in Limehouse were left out of the original study area. Thank you kindly for taking the time provide us with your valuable feedback and comments regarding the proposed project. As previously mentioned, all feedback will be taken into consideration in preparation of the final recommendations report to Council.
Regarding the plowing concerns you brought forward, further discussion with our Public Works department has confirmed that the new speed cushions will not impede winter road maintenance operations.
Lastly, I would like to mention that once the Final recommendations report is uploaded onto the Let's Talk HH project page we will be sending an email to everyone that attended the Public Information Centre. Notifications will also be sent to all the visitors of this page that have registered.
Once that information reaches you, please feel free to share it with anyone that was is interested but was not advised.

Share Hi. I live at 11427 22 sde rde. It seems to be just outside the study area. I think the area should have been expanded to the border at the limehouse sign or where the 50km zone starts. We live at the base of the hill, coming down from the Conservation Park, there is a BLIND corner just before the hill north of 12230, there has been numerous times when exiting our driveway that we have been confronted with speeding vehicles, resulting in aggressive breaking to avoid a collision. The installation of a Speed Hump at the opposite end of the street will not address this issue. Thank you for taking the time to review the proposed plan and provide us with your comments.
In the past we have not had any speeding concerns in the section of Fifth Line between the curve and the bridge since it is a short section.
Havig said that staff will collect speed data to determine if the screening criterion for the implementation of traffic calming devices is warranted.
The trigger would be an Operating Speed (speed at or below which 85 % of vehicles travel) of 65 km/h or higher.
Once staff has collected and reviewed the data a determination will be made if an additional speed hump is warranted.

Why would we change. Limehouse89 asked 9 months agoAs part of the Limehouse Neighbourhood Traffic Calming Plan staff is recommending the installation of two (2) speed cushions on 22 Side Road east of Fifth Line.
The first one will be located in between the two school parking lot entrances. The proposed location for the second speed cushion is near Elizabeth Street.

There is a post-implementation data collection that allows staff to determine whether the implemented measures achieved the desired results. Those results will be posted on the Let's Talk Halton Hills Project Page as a before and after comparison. Once staff determines that intrusive traffic calming measures are warranted, those become permanent and will not be removed.

Having being a resident of Limehouse for over 35 years we are still experiencing dump truck traffic, large delivery or transport trucks crossing the 5th line bridge and speeding cars/trucks. My suggestion is at a minimum to add speed bumps at 5th and 22nd, larger signs for the dump trucks.
