The Town of Halton Hills is preparing a Secondary Plan for Downtown Acton and the GO Station to help guide future development, while preserving its historic character. The study area for this project will be the Acton GO Major Transit Station Area (MTSA), as previously established through Halton Region Official Plan Amendment 48 in 2021.
A key focus of this project will be to determine an appropriate density target (people and jobs per hectare) for the MTSA, under the guidance of the Provincial Planning Statement. In order to set this target, transportation and servicing needs of the current (and future) population will be studied. Cultural heritage and urban design will also be studied in support of a preferred land use plan for the study area.
